Nestled in the Caucasus Mountains east of the Black Sea is the charming and fascinating country of Armenia. It is one of the oldest countries in the world, with an historical record since 3,500 BC and was one of the earliest countries to develop a written language and Christianity. It is nestled in the highlands surrounding the Biblical mountains of Ararat, and has many unique species of plants.

It achieved independence in 1991. It is nestled in the highlands surrounding the Biblical mountains of Ararat, and has many unique species of plants.
Our journey to Armenia in May 2024 will take us to spectacular natural areas. We’ll also visit the pagan Temple of Garni, and ancient monasteries. We will see extraordinary mountain peaks, monasteries perched on mountain tops, ancient cities and villages. It will be a rich cultural experience.
In addition, we will spend time searching for rare plants and flowers in several wild sanctuaries and preserves.
Travel is by motorcoach or van, with daily outings on foot of 1 to 2 miles at a leisurely pace suitable for exploring natural areas, ancient cities, and footpaths. Exploration requires some walking up and downhill. Please be prepared to actively explore on foot. This expedition is a tremendous experience for travelers with an appetite for adventure and discovery, who relish the opportunity to discover the cultural and natural heritage of this fascinating country.
